Amanda Favier, violin

amanda favier ph pierre morlet

A child prodigy, Amanda Favier first came to prominence at the age of nine in her first solo concerto, at eleven at the Salle Gaveau, and at thirteen as a student at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) in Gérard Poulet’s class. After winning First Prize in violin and a Higher Education Diploma with distinction, she completed her studies with an Advanced Training Programme in Paris before studying under Igor Ozim and Sir Ifrah Neaman in Cologne and London. This cultural blend has made her a well-rounded musician, who quickly went on to win some fifteen international prizes and became the youngest winner of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig.

In France, she has been honoured with the Forthuny Prize from the Académie des Beaux-Arts, the Berthier Prize from the Palmes Académiques, the Banque Populaire Foundation and Adami (“Classical Revelation” and subsequently “Adami Violin”). Her travels have taken her to prestigious venues (the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Poisson Rouge in New York, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Radio France Auditorium, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Châtelet, the Cité de la Musique, the Seine Musicale, the Salle Gaveau…) with sought-after partners and orchestras. (NoMadMusic) with Célimène Daudet, it was named “Choix de France Musique” and awarded three FFFs by Télérama. Her latest solo recording (NoMadMusic) of concertos by Stravinsky and Corigliano with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, conducted by Adrien Perruchon, has been very well received: “a balancing act, both in terms of her superb technique and her ever-evolving aesthetic” (Le Monde); “a remarkable double bill of 20th-century concertos” (Musikzen); “undeniable mastery.” (On Mag), “Amanda Favier’s magical bow” (Toute la culture), Record of the Day (France Musique), 5 croches Pizzicato, **** Classica… It was nominated for the Octaves de la musique (Belgium).

Her most recent album, Kreislermania, a duet with Élodie Soulard, received the same warm reception, having been highly praised by Le Monde, Médiapart, France Musique radio and other specialist media outlets. Amanda is the artistic director of two concert seasons: the Préludia Festival (03) and Les Amis de la Musique (16).
